Bard, Norway, Age 16

Bard is a handsome young man with a great smile. He is a quiet boy who will need a little time to adjust although he loves to meet new people and appreciates every new friendship. Bard is an A-B student and is talkative and has good pronounciation in his English. Bard plays the bassoon and trains in Jiu Jitsu. Some of his hobbies include reading, music and computer games.

Quang, Vietnam, Age 16

Quang is a very intelligent student. He earns all As and has excellent marks on all of his English Evaluations. His favorite subject is math and he hopes to become a computer programmer or pharmicist. Quang learns his lessons very easily and likes to help his classmates when they need help. He would like to play basketball while in the U.S.A. He also likes Badminton. Quang would like to be placed in a happy, cozy host family and share good times together.

Anh, Vietnam, Age 16

Anh goes by "Tony". Tony is a fun, loving kind of guy who has a great sense of humor. He loves telling jokes and funny stories and putting a smile on everyone's face. However he can be a bit naive, and he is easily tricked by some of his friends. Tony is a B student and always shows his best in his academic performance. His high school is one that actually chooses students based on their excellent academic scores. Tony likes to play badminton in his free time.

Thi, Vietnam, Age 14

Thi goes by the name "Chloe". Chloe is an A student who is very confident, has a strong desire to communicate, is dedicated, motivated, hardworking, assiduous student who is passionate about learning English. She has earned all excellent marks on her English Evaluations. Chloe may be a little shy in front of crowds until she adapts. She does belly dancing to keep herself fit.

Nhi, Vietnam, Age 16

Nhi is quiet and shy but very helpful to everyone. Her character is simple, patient and cozy. Nhi is an A student and communicates very well in English. She has a great relationship with her teachers and studies very well; she often volunteers to answer questions. Nhi enjoys music, TV, reading, shopping, and going to the theater.

Andres, Mexico, Age 15

Andres is a very loving and bright young man. He is talkative, sensitive, happy and responsible. Andres is an A student and does his studies first before any extra activities. He likes to play soccer, basketball and video games. Andres is a collector of stamps, toys and video games. He likes most foods with the exception of seafood and he likes to have chocolate for his milk. When he watches a scary film it is difficult to sleep.

Ruiyu, China, Age 17

Ruiyu has a very nice smile, is kind-hearted, and full of love. Her parents have an impact on her way of behaving and she feels like she is the happiest child in the world because of them. Ruiyu loves to communicate with American people and make new friends. She believes when faced with a difficult situation to try your best to solve it and do not give up. Ruiyu is a B student and is always the hardest working student in the class. Ruiyu participates in track and field with the shot-put and relay race. She enjoys swimming, reading comic books and watching new movies.

Guannan, China, Age 16

Guannan goes by "Dunk." Dunk is an excellent child: kind, helpful, active and responsible. He is an A student. Dunk loves to invent things and has taken part in several creative invention competitions and has won some awards. He currently has two patents for his inventions. He has a dream of establishing a costume brand of his own. Dunk likes to play basketball and is considered his team's elite. He also likes to play tennis and badminton. Dunk loves to travel and has been many places to experience the different cultures.

Kunlaya, Thailand, Age 15

Kunlaya has a wonderful smile and personality. She is a very dedicated and hardworking student who earns all A's and B's. She speaks English very well and has all very good marks on her English Evaluations. Kunlaya stands out in class with having a high interest in the American culture. She has a great interest in art, music and action films. Kunlaya plays the piano and is currently taking a Grade 3 test in Trinity Guild Hall College, London. She likes singing, listening to music, watching t.v., being on the computer, walking and going shopping and finding things on sale. Kunlaya loves the holidays when her family goes to the sea or goes camping.

Dat, Vietnam, Age 16

Dat is a responsible, honest, helpful, trusting young man who is goal-oriented. He is an A student and one of the most active students in his class. Dat approaches learning in an academic manner and knows how to manage his time well. Dat enjoys playing soccer, swimming, surfing the Internet, and taking care of his younger brother.

Khue, Vietnam, Age 15

Khue studies at Go Vap High School and is an A student who has always had positive feedback on his character. His favorite subject is chemistry and he hopes to become a doctor to help the poor children that are in the orphanage. Khue plays basketball on his school team and he also plays soccer. He hopes to become a soccer manager and help train players and improve their quality and skills. Khue's favorite food is pho and seafood.

Lalita, Thailand, Age 15

Lalita goes by her nickname "Namwan." Namwan is very cute and has a great smile. She may be shy at first but will soon be easy going, optimistic, honest and joyful. Namwan has a positive "can do" attitude. She is an exceptional student who earns all A's and comes highly recommended from her English tgeacher. Namwan loves to play the piano as it helps her relax and be happy. She also enjoys reading comic books and helps take care of her younger brother. Namwan hopes for a loving, understanding, honest host family to help her get comfortable and have a great experience.

Wariya, Thailand, Age 16

Wariya goes by her nickname "Sky". Sky is very healthy, polite, honest, studious, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. She may sometimes be quiet but she has a pleasant character. Sky is an A-B student and has very good English skills and can communicate very well. Sky loves to draw and paint and would like to become an architect. She enjoys photography, watching tv, surfing the internet and listening to music. One the weekends Sky likes to play badminton, watch soccer, go to the cinema, and go shopping with her friends.

Katanyoo, Thailand, Age 15

Katanyoo goes by "Yoo." Yoo is a model student. He is friendly, funny, outgoing, active, polite, creative and confident. Yoo studies at Samakkhi Witthagakhom School which emphasizes math and science programs. He would like to become a pilot and travel the world. Yoo's favorite hobby is reading, especially Harry Potter. He also likes listening to music, watching movies, and helping with household chores. Yoo is active in church.

Tan, Vietnam, Age 17

Tan is an active and agile boy. He likes to join in many activities and is keen on learning new things. He is a very sweet and motivated student who works very hard in class earning all A's. Tan has a strong reading and comprehension of English. He is very well liked by his teachers and classmates. Tan likes to go swimming, play basketball and play soccer. He loves music and can play the organ. Tan is very excited to share the American holidays with his new host family. At home he helps with household chores and helps take care of his little sister. His favorite food is pizza and hamburgers. Tan likes cats and dogs.

Navaporn, Thailand, Age 16

Navaporn is an outstanding young lady who is loves to participate in extra-curricular activities. She loves to ride horses and participates in competitions. She is also interested in singing and dancing. She is excited to join the exchange program and is looking forward to a great year!

Nicolas, Germany, Age 16

Nicolas is looking forward to participating in the program and learning many new things. He loves to surf; that is his favorite sport. In addition, he likes wind surfing, soccer, badminton, watching movies, and traveling with his family. Nicolas is looking forward to meeting his American host family and making many new friends. Other interests include basketball, bike riding, dancing, fishing, fitness training, going to the movies, ice hockey, ice skating, inline skating, listening to popular music, photography, playing board games, reading, snow skiing, soccer, track and field, and watching sports.

Julia, Brazil, Age 16

Julia is an active teenager from Brazil. She has a good spirit about her and enjoys playing handball, soccer, and volleyball. Julia is described as being responsible and polite. Though a little shy when you first meet her, she is also a good student and will be a good addition to the exchange program!

Rui, China, Age 16

Rui is looking forward to his journey to America. Rui is an active and energetic young man who likes to travel, play basketball, read books, and listen to music. Rui is looking forward to making many new friends, meeting his American Mom and Dad and sharing his Chinese culture.

Mattia, Italy, Age 16

Mattia is a dynamic and nice young man who loves sports especially snowboarding. Mattia enjoys going to the mountains, listening to music, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends. Mattia is looking forward to meeting his host family and making many new friends.

Zujun, China, Age 15

Zujun, whose nickname is Vicky, comes from Nanjing. She describes herself as an easygoing girl who enjoys reading and writing. She likes to be a leader with her peers and take part in various school activities. She wants to learn about the American culture and bring happiness to her host family by sharing her Chinese culture.

Olivia, Sweden, Age 17

Olivia is very pretty with a great smile. She is open, happy, and has excellent social skills. Her family is very active in skiing and snowboarding and she hopes to be able to go skiing in the Rocky Mountains. Olivia also enjoys playing soccer and handball. Olivia attends YBC-Young Business Creatives School-where she is a very ambitious and motivated student earning all As. Oliva has been to the U.S.A. many times and thinks it is a great country with a lot of great people.

Bea, Finland, Age 16

Bea is reliable, sensitive, and has her own personality. She enjoys yoga and jogging. Bea is an A student. Some of her hobbies include drawing, music, reading and watching T.V. Bea is looking forward to making many new friends, attending school, and making memories with her American family.

Pedro, Mexico, Age 15

Pedro is a friendly, positive, happy boy who likes to meet new people and make new friends. He may be a little shy at first. Pedro likes to be active and exercise by playing tennis and swimming. He is an A-B student. In his free time Pedro likes to listen to music, go to the cinema, travel and spend time in nature. He is active in church. Pedro would like to be placed with a host family where he will be able to see snow and do snow sports. Pedro is very healthy and is a vegetarian, he does not eat any meat.

Deborah, Brazil, Age 16

Deborah was born in Pittsburgh, PA. She moved to Brazil when she was just 6 months old. Deborah is quiet and calm. If she becomes disappointed she tends to be quiet and keeps to herself, although she does not give up easily, and in her silence she keeps trying to find a solution for her problem. Deborah spends most of her time involved in her studies and homework. She is an A-B student with a very good English evaluation. She is always willing to learn as much as possible and achieve her goals. Deborah loves animals and is in charge of taking care of them. She has an aquatic turtle, 2 red-footed tortoises, 4 ornamental fish, a chinchilla and a dog. Other interests are music, playing board games, soccer, volleyball, and watching sports.

Michal, Slovakia, Age 16

Michal comes to the us from Slovakia. His favorite activity is basketball. His big wish and dream is to have the experience to study in the US. Besides playing basketball he enjoys spending time in school activities, spending time with his family, and traveling. Michal is described by teachers and friends as a responsible, friendly, and mature teenager.

Manuel, Spain, Age 15

Manuel is looking forward to experiencing new things. Manuel is an outgoing young man who enjoys traveling. He competes in riding horses and has a horse of his own named "Fakir." Manuel loves to ride. Manuel is looking forward to meeting many new people including his host family. He is also interested in fishing, snow sports, and surfing. He is allergic to cat hair.

Yeon Kyung, South Korea, Age 14

Yeong whose English name is "Boram Son" is looking forward to learning and experiencing new things here in America. She is a sweet and lovely young lady who plays the piano, likes to sing and dance. In addition she likes to read books and shop. Boram Son is looking forward to sharing her culture with her American Mom and Dad. She also is interested in art/painting, cooking/baking, dancing, school activities, and shopping.

Jade, Belgium, Age 17

Jade, described as a friendly girl, is eager to come to the USA to learn all about American life while studying! In school, Jade maintains an A- average and she loves to read. With her 3 sisters, she enjoys traveling. In addition, Jade likes many sports, including windsurfing and sailing. Jade is interested in photography and cooking. With her friends, she enjoys shopping and going to the movies. Since Jade loves meeting new people, she should adjust well to life in the USA, and she cannot wait to meet her new American family.

Andrea, Mexico, Age 17

Andrea looks forward to spending a year in the United States. In school, she maintains a B- average, and aspires to be an actress someday! She enjoys soccer very much. Activities she likes are going to the movies and going shopping. At home, she helps with all the chores in order to help her mother. Andrea hopes to become even more independent during her stay here. She cannot wait to meet her host family and have great cultural experiences!
